A Hybrid of Fiction and Mythology

Making Stars

Making Stars

Hailing in from St Louis, Missouri, painter Adrian Cox lets us into his mythological world of work that embodies characters that are in tune with their environment.  Adrian describes his recent paintings as becoming overtly narrative in the past few years. ”These recent paintings feature a cast of recurring characters that I call the Border Creatures, a fictional race of hybrid beings that are at once monstrous and Romantic.”

His pieces take you through a fantasy-like journey, each piece different from each other but telling a cohesive story. ”Ultimately, these paintings create an Arcadia for the Other, for creatures with fluid identities, a space where the language of difference breaks down”.  Judging from his body of work, it’s safe to say Adrian isn’t afraid to try something new.
