“As a man, taking time to sit down and talk with women, to be schooled on what’s going on around you, what impact your actions or comments has made on others, is amazing. My eyes are constantly being opened wider and wider by women everyday. They are stunning, not only in their beauty but also in their emotional awareness.”
Rowan Newton has been into art since he was a child. At an early age, he learned how to keep himself entertained through drawing. He used to sit around and draw cartoons from TV shows. Scribbles on endless pieces of paper with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bart Simpson, Mickey Mouse along with others. Watching Saturday morning cartoons became the breeding ground for this untamed talent. His first identification with the expression known as Art came from his dad. He'd take young Rowan to the local comic store. As a child that felt like an adventure. He fell in love with the pictures and the technique of the drawings, he knew art was going to be a part of his life then and there.
Artists make art based off inspiration and thoughts. Walk into any exhibit or art show and listen to the creator "well the inspiration for..." is usually how they begin. Rowan is mostly inspired by women and their ability to love unconditionally, the amount of compassion they have and the ability to be so understanding. He believes that they are selfless. To him, women are much more in tune with themselves and the world around them. “As a man, taking time to sit down and talk with women, to be schooled on what’s going on around you, what impact your actions or comments has made on others, is amazing. My eyes are constantly being opened wider and wider by women everyday. They are stunning, not only in their beauty but also in their emotional awareness.” I don’t know about anyone else but I think I agree with him partially because I’m a lady. He must be trying to get as many of as he can on his side. (It's working) For centuries woman have been the muses of choice for artists...(we are outstanding creatures).
THE NEXT PAINTING ON HIS CANVAS...
He doesn’t know where his future in art stands nor does he want to think that far into it. Sometimes as an artist, it feels unreal to him that he can actually make a living doing what he loves. “You feel as though that moment will cease at any time. It’s a scary existence, can you really keep this dream going for another 40, 50, 60 years! Who knows!” In today’s society and economy, doing what you love may be looked down upon if it doesn’t look like a good source of income. Art is one of the poster children of that theory. Not everyone thinks that they could make a living off of what they love doing. It may seem like big gamble but it’s one worth taking for Rowan. His plan for now is to plan ahead for the next year in terms of his art career. That scares him a little because he would like to also deal with his present. All he wants for his future is the freedom to produce the work he wants to without any restrictions while still having a need to deliver the message he wants to tell. He looks at being able to draw and paint everyday as a blessing. He enjoys being able to use his work to have a positive impact in people’s lives. He loves art because it makes him happy on a visual level. Life, death, love and loss and living everyday inspire his art and continues to push him forward in his journey.
